This is the most frustrating washer/dryer I have ever owned. I think LG should seriously consider not making these anymore. We have had so many problems with this machine not drying correctly. I have read all the what not to do and what to check for the machine to dry effectively and have followed all the instructions. Weve had to call the same guy out several times to fix it. Now the mother board is stuck on child lock and will not release when I hold the child lock button down. I have left it unplugged for 3 days to see if the board would reset but its still stuck. I have never had this many problems with an appliance before.

I give a very bad review for this product. The dryer component stopped working 3 months ago. Then two weeks ago the washer component stopped working. I called LG manufacturer I was told my machine is out of warranty. I have paid a total of $400 for 3 attempted repairs to no avail.

WILL LEAK AND CAUSE DAMAGE

Honestly the worse thing to happen to me this year. Apparently theres a sensor/ valve malfunction on the unit which caused the basin to over flow with water. The excess water ended up flooding my entire apartment. We had to turn off the main water shut off valve in order to stop the machine from spilling more water. The home is in the process of mold remediation and reconstruction costing us 10k + in damages

Hubby and I purchased one of these and it has been amazing. After the first year the dryer part wasnt working all that well. After consulting with LG and YouTube we took the top off and carefully rinsed out the part that holds all the lint. It was back to working like brand new. Simple weekly maintenance that takes 5 minutes. Other then that we havent had any other issues. I love my machine. This unit doesnt dry like a traditional machine and in my opinion my clothes dont fade as fast.

Broken 2 days after repair

LG Electronics - WM3488HW It took three times but it is now fixed. Water Pump failures. Tec was on his game all three times and he was the master of the Mystery. He outsmarted the Pumps two times for the finale time. No more water in the tube when not in use.

Sitting in my bathroom not working

We bought this expensive appliance because we understood the LG brand to be quality. Sadly after constant error messages that we had to research and fix our final OE error has the washer dryer combo improbable and we are doing laundry at the local laundromat. Although new it is of course just past the 1 year warranty. We watched every tip and video to fix but no luck. We reached out to the recommended repair company and no response to date. We wish we could just have this product removed from our home as the stress it has caused has been severe.

I purchased this washer 3 years ago I have the earlier version and as much as I want to love it its been a nightmare. The good: -set it and forget it you can put your laundry in at night and wake up to clean dry laundry. -compact fits in small areas that arent able to have both a washer and dryer. -no dryer outlet as long as you have wastewater drainage youre good. -the done jingle is lovely The cons: -crinkle wrinkle clothes as far as the eye can see. There is no Ill throw it in the dryer to get the wrinkles out. If you dry jeans that have a leather tag on the back the tag will shrink become a rock and stab you in the back until its removed. There is no way around this other than not drying them. -It takes FOREVER to do a load of laundry usually around 6 hours. -THE DRAIN PUMP ****This is the con that makes it a 1 star**** We purchased a longer warranty and whoo boy did we need it. We are now on our 5th pump failure and I cant take it anymore. Each time its about a month before an LG technician can make it out diagnose order the part and replace it. We follow all of the use maintenance and cleaning instructions to a T. I just want to wash my clothes. Maybe theyve fixed this issue in the few years since Ive had mine but no way would I ever buy this again unless I could be sure this wouldnt happen. If the pump was not an issue this would be 3.5 stars. Its fine and a good option if you arent able to get the separate washer and dryer for whatever reason. Ive had very positive experiences with other LG products. Heck when the pump goes out I take my laundry to my parents who have the non 2-in-1 LG models and they work like a charm.

I have not been satisfied with this machine. After I bought it I had trouble with it before the guarantee was up and eventually got an Asurian Premium Care plan so that if something went wrong they would fix it. I am 75.5 years old and cannot pull the thing out. Ive read the book that comes with it but it hasnt helped me to fix its problems. Right now it doesnt drain and the OE error code comes up. I talked to someone on the phone and they said I needed an LG certified technician to work on it. Ive been getting the runnaround when I call about it--and finally just gave up for a while to settle my nerves.

Get the longest extended warranty possible

I bought this unit 3 years ago. In that time the repair tech came to service the unit almost 10 times. For the the same exact reasons each time either the drain pump needed to be replaced were on our 3rd or the lint needed to be cleaned out of the internal housing which was causing the dryer not to work. This unit was supposed to not need lint cleaning and theres no actual way for us to do it ourselves. I asked the repair tech about the drain pump and he said hes seen this happen a lot on this model basically because the lint goes through the drain pump it wears it out a lot faster. He said in normal units drain pumps should last 5 years. Both of these issues seem like design flaws in this unit or maybe even in the combo washer dryer system. Luckily we were able to renew our extended warranty diy another 4 years because were looking at another 2 to 3 drain pump replacements and 2 to 3 lint cleanings. You can bet in 4 years well be looking at a more traditional system and more than likely not an LG.

I bought this for a small guest house when nothing else would fit The LG Electronics all in one washer dryer combo is good for guests that visit. It does seem to take longer to dry and the dryer size seems smal. The instructions for using the dryer separate from the washer arent intuitive until you use it a few times. Overall - great addition to the house works well and my guests love it.

I needed to get a washer/dryer combo for our RV and all of the other usual appliances came with bad reviews such as hard to dry clothes too noisy etc.. I took the chance on the LG because I am familiar with and like this brand. I could not be happier. Once I figured out the load size that it could handle for wash and dry without issue its been running like a top ever since. The only time that there is a slight issue with drying is on very hot/humid days so on those days I just hang the clothes out. Otherwise its very light on the water use if youre only washing with it. Great machine

Second one and it broke too

I bought tis unit about 10 months ago because the one I had before it broke several times and it was faster to get a new one than to wait for a repair. I was locked into this type of unit as I didnt have the connection for a traditional unit. This unit has broken in the same fashion pump issue as the last but in only ten months instead of seven years. I requested service and have had no response. Made a second request Monday and no response.

I wanted to like this machine.

Ive had this laundry machine for three and a half years and despite the care with which Ive treated it its been a huge disappointment. This washer-dryer combo is incredibly loud and takes several hours to wash small loads of laundry. It doesnt remove pet hair from clothing at all and it stopped drying properly within six months of installation this is thanks to the massive amounts of wet lint that accumulate in the guts of the machine. I also have to use the timed dry setting exclusively because any other dry setting prompts the machine to stop running after only a few minutes. Ive tried using the app to help diagnose the issues Ive experienced but this too hasnt worked I dont recall why just now. In the time Ive had this washer-dryer Ive spent a lot to have it repaired. Six months after I began using the machine bits of the door boot began crumbling. Within a year and a half of initial use a water inlet valve failed. Within just over two years the drain pump stopped working. And now a year since I had the original drain pump replaced this part has failed again. I was told by an appliance repair mechanic that the drain pumps LG uses are prone to failure but I didnt expect to have to replace the part twice within three and a half years. Im not in the position to pay hundreds to have this repaired again so Im going to order a new drain pump and replace it myself this time. LG makes it difficult to access the machines innards but several repair technicians YouTube videos have given me the confidence I need to DIY this repair. I really wanted to like this but its been a source of stress. At the best of times Ive been able to come up with workarounds to make up for this machines many shortcomings at its worst the machine has left me with soaking wet clothes and a washer that wont drain. I do not recommend this laundry machine.

Were considering third repair. To be fair when it drys it drys well but it seems to do so on its own terms and with a strange burning smell. When it doesnt dry we are left with wet clothes. Soggy wet clothes. Thats after 3hrs of drying. We ultimately had a major incident with the door bursting open while the unit continued to fill and overflow with water we live in a high-rise. We had it repaired but its starting to have the same issues that lead up to the flood. Weve had everything repaired from a mainboard to new pumps to new valves. If I had known so many other customers had these issues Id have never purchased this unit. Please be aware of the burning smell this unit produces and also the flood warning We were lucky we didnt leave our unit after starting that last wash

Great for small space

This all in one washing machine is perfect for a small condo or townhouse. Im not allowed to vent a dryer this machine is ventless so it was perfect for my townhouse.

Hoping for the best

After having the unit for just a year my clothes were not drying. I had to pay for repair service and a new pump and the clothes still didnt dry. Repair service came back and was able to remove a lot of wet lint that was clogging the heat vent. Worked about two weeks and seems like like lint is clogging that vent again. I am really disappointed as I installed cabinets and a counter top based on that unit. I do not have room for side by side units and now would have to remove everything for a stackable.

Pros Cons

Pros: Its nice to not have to be home to do your laundry/very freeing to toss in before you head to work have it all done for you by the time youre back the crock pot of laundry if you will. Doesnt take up a lot of space. Being ventless is kind of nice in how it doesnt blow dust around the apartment. Uses high-efficiency detergent so bottles of detergent last longer. Has a very quiet spin cycle. Has some cool/fancy tech features. / Cons: It is way more prone to shrinking clothes and making clothes incredibly wrinkly than any washers/dryers I have known before. Some trial and error with settings has reduced this a little bit but needing to iron clothes is now much more frequent than it ever was in my life before. Each wash/dry cycle takes several hours minimum so not a good machine for quick laundry. Doesnt remove pet hair from clothing like regular washer/dryers do just per its different way of functioning. Pretty small drum so cant do very large loads and can become unbalanced easily so you have to be careful how you wash ex: trying to wash sheets towels at the same time easily unbalances the drum. Although the spin cycle is quiet the rest of its functioning is pretty loud so if you live in a studio apartment can be pretty audibly intrusive. Cleaning the drain pump filter is a bit tedious. Not super durable have only had mine for two years and it is already needing a repair for a new/concerning noise from the motor. Also kind of challenging to find techs who know how to work with the machine since its a newer concept LGs recommended techs were in the suburbs so I had to find my own.

Perfect Guest Apartment Solution

This works for my guest apartment which has very little space. Its ideal for small loads. The only thing I havent figured out is how to use the Download cycle. I have the LG WashTower and I use the download feature via ThinQ. But this machine cant use ThinQ so how do I send a downloaded cycle to use?

Compact but Full-featured

When my 30-year-old over/under W/D gave up the ghost I was faced with the challenge of finding a replacement which would fit into the same small closet. As a bachelor living alone I dont have multiple loads to wash and dry simultaneously as is possible with an over/under unit but I do have the convenience of both washing and drying automatically in the same tub in the same cycle. I neednt even be home as my WM3488HW does the whole job start-to-finish. Thats a real convenience. And it does a good job at that.
