Broke after 1 years warrantee.

It stopped working after about a year and a half due to magnetron or door switch and cost too much to fix compared to buying a new one. I had a 5-year Home Depot warrantee so got a different model to replace it.

LG invited me to write a review on this over-the-range microwave oven after I reached out to the companys customer service department to help resolve a problem with the appliance. I would urge people considering purchasing this product to look at alternatives especially if you live in an area not serviced by LGs technicians. My microwave broke 18 months after being installed and having not been used excessively during that period. When I called LG they agreed to have an LG technician visit to troubleshoot the problem but after finding out where I lived Vermont USA I was told that they had no technicians servicing the state. They did give me the names of local appliance repair companies one of which provided excellent service quickly identifying the issue as a faulty door switch which I was told by the technician he had seen in these microwaves before. The new part was ordered and installed and the microwave is now working fine. I got back in touch with LG and asked if they would consider refunding me the cost of the repair $160 diagnostic visit and labor plus $35 for the replacement part. I was aware that the standard warranty for the microwave was 12 months I did not purchase the extended warranty as I certainly expected a product from a reputable manufacturer to last more than a year but made a case that even though the product was out of warranty it was still only 18 months old it had not been used excessively it was not an insignificant purchase $500 and of most significance to me LG themselves were unable to provide their own technicians to visit and identify the problem which took the third party technician less than 10 minutes to identify. After a number of conversations and e-mails LG maintained that the product was beyond the 12 month warranty period and would not refund the $160 cost of the diagnostic visit and labor even though I had to pay this because the company could not provide their own technicians. They did offer a 15 discount on a new LG appliance which has no value whatsoever as I do not need anything and even if I did I would now be considering another manufacturer anyway. Given that I am unlikely to move to a major metropolitan area where hopefully LG has plenty of service technicians for any new appliance purchase I will look at manufacturers with better view of customer service.

Died 6 months after 1 year warrantee.

I bought this in July 2022 and in January 2024 it no longer would heat and the turntable would not rotate everything else still worked. Luckily I bought a 5-year extended warrantee but it did not cover a new warrantee or removal of the old microwave. I was told the cost of repair did not make this option worthwhile.
