FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Colorado Retailer’s Longtime ‘Denver vs. Oakland’ Challenge Bets $1 Million on Denver’s Defense
DENVER— Appliance Factory Outlet & Mattresses has bet $1 million on Denver’s defense each year for over a decade.
Since the Colorado retailer started its famous “Denver vs.Oakland” challenge over 10 years ago, Appliance Factory Outlet & Mattresses has yet to dole out a million dollars in free appliances to its customers. Denver’s improved defense this year could make the difference in its big game against Oakland on Sept. 30.
“We may have great leadership under Peyton Manning, but the reality is we have one of the best defensive teams we’ve seen in a long time,” said Chuck Ewing, CEO of Appliance Factory Outlet and longtime football fan. “We think this is the year.”
Oakland has been shut out by six different teams in the last six years, and was also shutout this year by the Dallas Cowboys in an August 13 pre-season game. Denver has come close to a shutout against its rivals in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006, but Oaklandhas always managed to eke out a score in the last few minutes of the game.
Appliance Factory Outlet purchased $1,000,000 in insurance to reimburse customers in the event Denver stuffs Oakland—insurance that must be paid whether or not a shutout happens. The “Denver Vs. Oakland” challenge is valid on a minimum $449 purchase and maximum of $3,000 paid in-full during the week of Sept. 23–29. Appliances must be paid for at the time of purchase. See website and store for details.
